Alabama - Gildan-Prewitt has announced plans to relocate around a third of its knitting machinery based at its Fort Payne, Alabama site and all its remaining wet processing operations to Honduras.

The move, which Gildan said would help it remain more competitive with imports from Asia, will result in the shutdown of operations at the company?s C.S. Bell facility with around 130 jobs lost as a result.
