Hechingen - Merz Maschinenfabrik, in collaboration with Italian yarn specialist LeMur and Germany?s Memminger IRO, has developed an adapted version of its CC4II machine to allow it to produce medical hosiery with an integrated ?support belt? made, for the first time, using an ultra-fine silicone yarn.

The belt around the top of medical stockings brings various benefits to the wearer such as added grip and compression properties. Merz?s use of a silicone yarn now adds antibacterial and breathable properties as well as reducing the level of sweating and friction for the wearer. The fact that the belt is knitted in also cuts out the post-production processes that are normally required.
