B?nnigheim - Following the growth of both warp and weft knitted, breathable, functional textiles for the sport and leisure wear industries, the performance attributes of these textiles have become increasingly complex.
Acknowledging this vital growth area for the many knitting mills looking to exploit niche market sectors, researchers at The Hohenstein Institute in B?nnigheim, Germany, have been exploring the heat and moisture management specifications for textiles worn on different parts of the human body. In a process called "body mapping with comfort zones" (or comfort mapping), the textile research centre says that its findings should make it possible to use different textile materials for different parts of a garment, so making sportswear significantly more comfortable to wear.
