Waregem - BekaertDeslee, one of the world's largest manufacturers of circular knitted fabrics for the mattress ticking sector, has recently passed the process to comply with the highest level of STeP by Oeko-Tex.
The company has achieved Level 3 with 71% (Level 3: exemplary implementation of best practices) with The “Detox to Zero by Oeko-Tex” performance integrated in the certificate.
STeP (Sustainable Textile Production) evaluates the chemicals policy, quality management, environmental management, social responsibility, safety and environmental performance of an organization/business. It is valid for 3 years.
To achieve Level 3, at least 70 per cent off the basic criteria and 100 per cent of exclusion criteria must be achieved. The STeP certification comprises a 3-level scoring system: Level 1: entry level; Level 2 : good implementation of best practices with further optimization potential Level 3: exemplary implementation of best practices.
