Knitting Trade Journal talks to Patrick Silva, marketing director at Santoni about the ground-breaking development of its Gauge 40 swimwear and how the process could pioneer the entry of seamless knitting technology into the multi-billion-dollar swimwear industry
Brescia - Knitting Trade Journal: Gauge 40 is being described as a ‘revolutionary leap’ — what specific technical advancements made this possible for swimwear?
Patrick Silva: When I first started analysing the swimwear market, I kept asking myself one question: why had seamless technology never truly entered competitive swimwear? The machines already existed, and the capability was there in theory. However, the results were never acceptable for swimwear brands. The fabric was too sheer, the hand feel was not correct, and the performance in water did not meet market expectations.
