New applications for shapewear technology

London ? Invista is extending its Lycra Beauty shapewear fabric platform to synthetic-based fabrics for lingerie and delicate lace, as well as fabrics made with natural/cellulosic fibres.
Shapewear is basically an undergarment that contains a high concentration of elastane - in this case Lycra - with its major purpose being to smooth out any lumps and bumps, giving clothing an overall tighter and more seamless appearance. According to some fashion designers, the right quality shapewear can actually make the wearer look lighter and help adjust posture.
The Lycra Beauty fabric certification programme, ?The Science of Shaping? was first introduced for shaping intimates at Mode City in September 2010 in partnership with several high profile international brands. The latest developments for the technology will now be unveiled at the Mode City, Paris exhibition, which takes place in July, 2013 where visitors will be the first in the world to see the trend-setting capsule collection as well as expert fabric developments from mills working with Lycra Beauty fabrics.
