Ho Chi Minh – Vietnamese knitter Thanh Cong Textile Garment Investing Trading has welcomed improvements to its operational efficiencies and subsequent cost savings following its implementation of Coats Digital’s GSDCost solution.
The firm, which produces for the likes of Adidas, New Balance and Kohl’s, is amongst Vietnam’s top 500 largest enterprises and said it suffered from inaccurate historical data stores across multiple Excel spreadsheets before adopting Coats Digital’s technology to streamline its operations.
GSDCost optimises ‘International Standard Time Benchmarks’, using data to create a common language between supply chain partners that helps improve transparency.
The technology – which has been subject to updates since Coats acquired GSD in 2014 – is said to support a more collaborative and sustainable supply chain by leveraging data which can inform cost forecasts, pricing negotiations and corporate social responsibility commitments.
Tran Thanh Bang, a team leader at the manufacturer, vouched for that, insisting: “We certainly have not been disappointed”.
“Coats Digital’s latest version of GSDCost has enabled us to not only increase our overall efficiencies by a staggering 14 per cent, but has very positively impacted our bottom line, by saving us over $12,000 in costs per 22,000-piece production run.”
Looking ahead, Thanh Bang believes the technology will “undoubtedly” help bring in more business, as well as support capacity building as it streamlines the company’s workflow.
“Another great advantage is that there is no longer any disagreement between the sales and production teams regarding cost plans, which means a much more peaceful working environment, where staff can occupy themselves with more meaningful activities to enhance the business,” he added.
“Our staff are also enjoying working towards incentivised good performance targets, based on real and achievable goals.”
