Frankfurt – Klopman, TDV Industries and 4F Knits will use this week’s Techtextil 2026 in Frankfurt to showcase an expanded range of knitted flame-retardant (FR) fabrics for workwear, protectivewear and military applications, with a strong focus on multi-risk protection and wearer comfort.

The group will highlight both inherent and treated FR solutions that combine certified safety performance with stretch characteristics designed for today’s high-performance PPE markets.

At the show, there will be an increased emphasis on inherent FR knitted fabrics, offered in structures such as jersey, piqué, fleece and polar fleece for garments where comfort and flexibility are critical.

The jersey knits are aimed at applications requiring softness, drape and mobility, while piqué constructions provide greater structure and long-term durability for polos and mid-layers. Fleece and polar fleece options target colder environments, combining thermal insulation with breathability and a soft handle to support extended wear.

These knitted FR solutions are designed to extend permanent heat and flame protection into a wider range of PPE categories, from base-layers and undergarments to mid-layer garments and outerwear components. By covering different knit constructions within the same inherent FR platform, the group aims to streamline sourcing for brands and garment makers looking to build complete multi-layer protective systems.

The fabrics are fully certified for multi-risk protection, including resistance to heat and flame, welding hazards, electrostatic discharge and molten metal splash. The inclusion of sustainable fibres such as viscose FR is intended to reduce environmental impact while maintaining the performance levels required in industrial laundries and demanding end-use conditions.

A key new development is MEGAFLEX R-PES, described as the next generation of treated FR stretch and Greenwear fabrics aimed at workwear and PPE where elasticity and durability must be balanced with sustainability goals. Using a recycled polyester blend combined with a PFAS-free Hydrogreen water-repellent finish, MEGAFLEX R-PES addresses tightening regulatory expectations around fluorinated chemistries while maintaining protection and comfort in use.

By pooling the capabilities of Klopman, TDV Industries and 4F Knits, the group is positioning itself as a long-term partner for global customers seeking consistent, compliant and technically advanced FR fabrics for protective, workwear and defence markets. The combined portfolio spans woven and knitted constructions, multiple fibre technologies and a wide range of certification schemes, aimed at supporting OEMs and garment manufacturers across Europe and beyond.

“Innovation in protective fabrics means translating technology into real protection for people at work,” said Amaury Sartorius, group commercial director and managing director of Klopman. “At Techtextil, we showcase our PPE solutions built on advanced textile engineering, certified performance and strong application expertise, reinforcing our role as a trusted partner in high-performance protection.”
