Closure for historic Scottish knitwear firm

Galston - Scottish knitwear manufacturer Balmoral Knitwear has ceased manufacturing operations after 123 years of business with the loss of 43 jobs. 
The Ayrshire firm, which mainly supplied school uniforms and workwear, has been hit by "increased competition" from low cost garments from offshore, the rising costs of materials and devaluation of the pound.
