Obertshausen - Karl Mayer has developed a new warp-knitting machine equipped with weft insertion capability.
The TM Weft was launched at an in-house event held at its subsidiary in Changzhou, China, this week, which was attended by weavers as well as knitters with finishers keen to move into fabric production also in attendance.
Two models of the TM Weft, a 247 ins width models in gauge E24, were on show with one producing an interlining, i.e. a traditional fabric with one guide bar, and the second with a fabric with higher drapabiity for special applications with two guide bars.
Both machines were running at an impressive level of stability and at a high speed of 1,500 min-1 with Hagen Lotzmann, sales manager of Karl Mayer Technische Textilien, noting that the entire concept was extremely well received. “Our customers were impressed by our focus on the functions, easy operation and reliability of the TM Weft,” he said, adding that all of the visitors were impressed by the cost:benefit ratio of the machines on show.
Together with Steffen Trabers from Illies China, the company’s agent in the region, Lotzmann highlighted a number of conversations relating to specific projects. The first machines have already been sold and further orders are expected over the next few months.
With its features and conceptual direction, the TM Weft, as a basic model, is designed to complement the existing Wefttronic II HKS, which will continue to be available for the high-end market. "Karl Mayer is therefore extending its tried-and-tested two product line strategy in its Technical Textiles Business Unit," the company said.
