Obertshausen - With the warp knitting industry in China set to grow, the Karl Mayer Group says it is well positioned to serve this increasingly important market.
This was underlined recently with a visit to the firm's Obertshausen, Germany headquarters by a delegation of leading textile and apparel industry authorities and company representatives from Jinjiang in the Fujian region of China.
The delegation included guests from warp knitting, weft knitting and weaving companies, as well as representatives from the leather goods and shoe sectors. Brands were also represented with visitors from companies such as 361° or Anta from the sportswear industry and Lilanz and Septwolves from the clothing sector.
The visit included a comprehensive insight into the world of applications for products made on Karl Mayer Group machines with the latest solutions for sports shoes of particular interest. In addition, the hosts, headed by CEO Arno Gärtner, exchanged ideas with the visitors and discussing cooperation opportunities.
"The Karl Mayer Group has always been committed to being close to its customers," said Gärtner. "If the market demands it, the company is looking forward to being able to build on Jinjiang's locational advantages."
Wenxin Ke, chairman of Huayu Weaving Co. agreed: "This is not an unrealistic scenario. In the Chinese textile industry, warp knitting is a comparatively young technology, having been established about 30 years ago, but it has great potential. Especially in terms of sustainability, warp knitting offers advantages over weaving in many applications, as became clear during the discussion."
