ELKTON - W.L. Gore & Associates is marking 50 years of Gore‑Tex branded fabrics, using the milestone to underline its shift towards longer‑lasting products, expanded polyethylene (ePE) membranes and collaborative work on global durability standards for performance textiles.

The Elkton, Maryland‑based materials specialist first introduced Gore‑Tex fabric to consumers in 1976 via the Early Winters Light Dimension tent, before extending the technology into garments, footwear and gloves for outdoor, professional and defence end‑uses.
