‘Fiber-to-Fiber’ project unveils enzymatic recycled knits

Partners demonstrate full European value-chain production of 100% recycled polyester from difficult textile and plastic waste streams

Clermont Ferrand – The Fiber-to-Fiber Consortium, which includes biotechnology specialist Carbios, French circular knitter Henitex, Patagonia and Puma, says it has validated the industrial-scale production of 100% recycled polyester t-shirts from complex plastic and textile waste using enzymatic biorecycling technology.

The project confirmed that waste-derived PET monomers can be repolymerised, spun, knitted, dyed and finished on standard European manufacturing lines without compromising performance, Carbios said.
